Residence Sigrid A Space to Research, Reimagine and Breathe

Residence Sigrid is an international and interdisciplinary residency for professional artists, designers, and writers based in Sweden who identify as women, trans, or non-binary. Located in Collioure, a village on the Vermeille coast in the south of France near the Spanish border, the residency offers time and space for artistic development and interdisciplinary exchange. The first resident duo, composed of one writer and one artist or designer, selected by a jury, will be welcomed to Collioure in May 2027 for a three-week residency with stipend.

A Place Marked by Artistic Legacy

For generations, Collioure has attracted artists drawn to its particular geography, wild light, and position at the meeting point of cultures. The village has served as a site of experimentation, observation, and artistic renewal across disciplines and periods. Swedish painter Sigrid Hjertén, who stayed and worked in Collioure in 1929, gives the residency its name and reflects a Swedish connection to this enduring creative landscape.

Time and Space for Deep Practice

Residence Sigrid offers three-week working residencies twice a year to professional womxn artists or designers and writers based in Sweden. Rooted in research and interdisciplinarity, the residency provides time for open-ended processes, reflection, creative development, and the rare opportunity to step back, think and breathe.

Selection and Eligibility

Applications are reviewed by a jury, which awards two residencies per year to one artist or designer and one writer per session. The residencies take place in September and in May. Womxn applicants are expected to be professionally active, based in Sweden, and aligned with the core principles of Misschiefs.
