Knappt tio år senare, 1981, blev han förbundsdirektör. Han var sedan förbundet trogen ända till sin pensionering och stundtals anlitad även därefter. Författarförbundet minns med tacksamhet hans insatser för Sveriges litterära yrkesutövare.
